Sign Up for Father-Daughter Wedding Dance Lessons

Father Daughter Wedding DanceAt weddings, everyone always looks forward to the newlyweds’ first dance. It’s their first big moment together as a married couple, and all eyes are on them as they glide across the floor. But another dance that’s often just as poignant is the dance between the bride and her father. The father-daughter dance is usually emotional and tends to get the whole crowd tearing up by the end. Other times, the father-daughter dance can be fun, silly and upbeat. Whatever style you have in mind for this special moment, the Arthur Murray Dance Studio can help teach you the perfect choreography that makes both of you shine on the dance floor.

Father-Daughter Dance Instruction

The dance instructors at Arthur Murray have taught all types of wedding dance lessons for brides and grooms, grooms and their mothers, brides and their fathers, bridesmaids and other members of the wedding party. So when you and Dad come in to start practicing, you can feel confident that you’re in good hands. Whether or not you have any prior dance experience, you’ll get to learn at your own pace in a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. For a lot of fathers and daughters, dance lessons become a fun activity they can enjoy together in the lead-up to the big day.

When you first sign up, you’ll meet with an instructor to go over what you hope to achieve. We’ll need to know how much time is left until the wedding because that will determine how many lessons you’ll be able to fit in before the reception.

The instructor will also ask what style of dance you’re looking for. If you want something slow, simple, and casual, we usually recommend a foxtrot, rumba, or slow swing. For something more classic and traditional, you can opt for a waltz. And if you want something fast, there’s always the cha-cha, jitterbug, quickstep, salsa or Lindy hop. As you work closely with your own instructor, you’ll talk about what kind of moves you want to do, and what moves you don’t want to do.

Benefits of Wedding Dance Lessons

By the time your dance lessons are done, you and Dad will both feel more confident stepping onto the dance floor. This is such an important moment for both of you, and you want the dance to go as smoothly as possible. By practicing, you can shake some of the nerves, relax and be yourselves while you dance, even if one or both of you get teary-eyed. The instruction is designed so that the choreography will become muscle memory, and you and Dad will be able to soak up the moment instead of having to focus on the steps.

Father-daughter dance lessons help ease some of the pressure of wedding planning because it becomes one less thing you have to worry about. Plus, dancing itself is a good stress reliever, and the lessons can give you and Dad something positive to look forward to each week. At the end of it all, you’ll both be able to take what you learned in the studio and enjoy a lifetime of dance skills.
